There are loads of tuners on the market but I honestly think that the Roadie Tuner is something we haven’t seen before and it is ingenious. The hardware part of the Roadie Tuner is a bluetooth enabled string winder that talks to an Android/iOS app which then tells the winder if the string is in tune. One of the benefits is that if you are playing an acoustic gig in a dark noisy venue you can tune quickly and easily without having to hear the strings. For electric guitar there is a cable adapter so that you can plug directly into your phone for more accurate results. You might say why not use a clip on tuner? Well the app doesn’t just tune your strings to standard tuning you can pick from a list of alternate tunings such as DADGAD or Open G or set up your own custom tuning. I imagine guitar techs would find this really useful for quick tuning changes! Roadie Tuner also has a feature built into the mobile app called Instrument Doctor which keeps track of the elasticity and tone of strings to notify you of wear and when it is time to restring.

As this is a Kickstarter Campaign they need to raise a certain amount before they can begin full production but they are already well under way with over $11,000 pledged with 45 days to go at the time of writing. Check out the campaign page for all of the details but if you get in quick there are still some early bird rewards available where you can get the product for $69, the final price will be $99.
