James Hutchinson recently contacted me to tell me about his business customising guitars, when I saw what he has been creating in his workshop I had to share it. James is like a mad scientist not content with easy custom guitar projects he really takes his work to the extreme, take the Molten Lava Guitar for example:
The original concept was a simple flat cracked surface with light shining through. I decided this would be too much akin to the custom painted Charvels of the late 80′s. Consequently I sought a way of having the lava flow over the guitar in three dimensions. After much painstaking research and development I have succeeded in my aim- to produce a rock guitar so hot its molten!…
The guitar has a Low sheen textured Sparkling Graphite paintwork and the illumination runs on a 9v battery located in a quick release box on the back of the guitar. The guitar itself is based on a Mahogany body Ibanez:
24 fret Rosewood fretboard
3 piece Wizard II maple neck
Stainless steel saddles
Annealed Black chrome/stainless steel hardware
Dimarzio Evolution Bridge pickup
Dimarzio Fred Neck pickup
