Time for another update on my Custom 7 String build from Charles Cilia Custom Guitars here in Australia. First up a reminder of the amazing piece of Maple that I chose for the top:

And here is the template for the body:

Now the rough cut top gets glued to the Mahogany body ready for bending.

Here you can see the Mahogany has already had the arm contour cut out and now the top is heated and bent into place.

And while that was being bent Charles took some time out to catch up on a spot of ironing…

And once the clamps are removed, Voila! A bent top ready for shaping.

First up start to shape the Neck heel:




Then routing the top for the pickups and trem:

Then Hoochie did a bit of sanding while Charles had a rest:

And here is the rough body:

Finally Charles attached the neck, Floyd Rose and threw in a rough selector switch (I won’t be using a Tele style cap) so I could test the neck shape. Here it is sprayed with water to show how the grain will look once stained.
