Zakk Wylde is bringing out a set of instructional DVDs in association with Guitar Apprentice so it uses their patented learning system. If you watch the video above you may think this looks a little confusing, I thought so too. It looks like it is kind of based on Guitar Hero but you start at level 1 which is a slow version of an example and only selected sections such as simple chords, then you work up through the 15 levels until you are playing the example in full up to tempo. Now I like this idea I think that it is great to have levels so that learners can build their technique and have a visual indicator of their progress but once you are up to level 15 it just looks like a blur of semi transparent fretboards where a simple on screen or printed TAB would be far clearer. I could be wrong that’s just what I can tell by checking out their website, but if you have used this system before let me know what you think of it in the comments below.
