Well it has been a long time coming with teasers from Guthrie Govan who has been using a Victory Amplifiers prototype on tour with Steven Wilson for a long time and from Rob Chapman who announced a signature Victory Amplifiers Silverback was in the works a while back too. If you haven’t heard, Victory Amplifiers is a new UK based Amp company whose head designer is none other than Martin Kidd of Cornford fame, hence the link with Guthrie.
Victory are launching with 3 amps, V10 The Baron (Combo), V50 The Earl and The V100 Duke. The V obviously referring to the Wattage. The 50 and 100 watt models only come as heads and they have Celestion V30 loaded 2×12 and 4×12 cabinets available too.
The V10 is a single channel combo based around a single 6L6 and single EL84 in the power section which you can mix using the Noval and Octal master volume controls, the V50 is based around dual EL34′s and the V100 a quartet of 6L6 power tubes. Both heads feature 2 channels with a pull crunch on the clean channel for more drive and a boost switch on the overdrive channel which is footswitchable. The V50 also allows you to switch down to 15 watts while the V100 lets you choose between 100 and 30 watts. The V100 also has dual Master volume controls too which is surprisingly rare on a 2 channel amp but incredibly useful.
