Epic Fusion is the first in a new Guitar Lesson series by UK Virtuoso and Guitarist Magazine’s ‘Guitarist of the Year 2011′, Rick Graham. Epic Fusion is based around 5 different solos over 5 of Rick’s fusion style backing tracks, each progressing in difficulty level. Each backing track is included as a separate MP3 for you to practice over and the solo examples are also included as MP3′s too so you can easily refer to them without having to skip through the video. TAB for both the chords in the backing track and the example solo are included as both Guitar Pro 5 format and a PDF for those who don’t have GP.
The main lesson is a 48 minute HD Video with multiple camera angles throughout so that you can see exactly what Rick is doing with each hand. There is a video demonstration of the example solo for each track before Rick breaks the track down and what intervals and modes he uses to improvise over each chord or progression. Each example solo is between 1 and 1.5 minutes long so when you consider the length of the video you can see that there is a lot of time spent explaining the concepts behind each solo and what you can do to improvise of complicated changes.
Don’t expect to be able to play fusion within the hour, this are no shortcuts to learning to play over difficult chord progressions, however Rick helps you to understand what you can do to start on your path toward fusion playing. You need to understand basic music theory in order to follow along with what Rick is saying but you don’t need to necessarily be an advanced player to start jamming over his backing tracks using some of the ideas discussed.
