At first when I looked at this guitar I thought that Nick Perri had produced a left handed model then the penny dropped and I realised the association with the name Memento, yeah I’m a bit slow. If you haven’t seen the film Memento it is about a guy (specifically Guy Pearce!) with anterograde amnesia which impairs his ability to store new explicit memories. He develops a system for recollection using hand-written notes, tattoos, and Polaroid photos. Some of these tattoos are written across his chest in reverse so that when he looks in the mirror he is faced with certain details about the murder of his wife that he has managed to uncover.
Nick has created a Strat style guitar that initially looks like a left handed model but when you look closer you can see that in fact the body is flipped upside down but the bridge, pickguard and controls etc. are all set for a right handed player. Another cool touch is that he has printed the Perri Ink logo and name Memento in reverse on the reverse headstock.
Proudly presenting the “Memento” by PERRI INK. Custom Guitars. Loosely based on the movie written & directed by Christopher Nolan, the Memento is not playing tricks on your eyes. It was built completely backwards on purpose, but plays perfectly and sounds just as thrilling as the motion picture. Featuring a slightly distressed “Gold Top” finish, Callaham vintage style Trem, 3 Bare Knuckle Irish Tour pickups, quarter-sawn Maple neck with Rosewood board, and reverse body, neck, and headstock, this guitar is ready for its box office debut!
As always, PERRI INK. Custom Guitars are American made, and come with GHS Strings, a MONO guitar case, and Certificate of Authenticity.
