So the cat is finally out of the bag, Mark McGuigan was quick as ever to pick up on the news of a new Guthrie Govan Signature Suhr Modern and now Suhr have published photos in their online photo gallery. I’m not a massive fan of this particular model, I think maybe it is the plain Maple top with the heavy sunburst? You all know how I love my Flame Maple! Anyway here are the specs, note that GG has switched from Mahogany body and neck to what John Suhr calls the “Holy Grail” wood combination:
Basswood Body
3/16 Plain Maple Top
Neck: Modern Elliptical GG .800 – .850
Jumbo Stainless Steel frets
Gotoh 510 bridge
Sperzel locking tuners
Pickups: neck JST SSV, Middle JST ML, Bridge SSH+
Finish: 2 tone Tobacco Burst, medium aging, nitro-cellulose lacquer
and of course a Tremel-No and laser etched Guthrie Govan signature on the back of the headstock.
Both the body and the hardware have been antiqued so this is on its way to being a roadworn style guitar!
