As an owner of the Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay (check out my demo here) I can tell you it is an amazing sounding Delay pedal but forgive me for pointing out the obvious here but this is not a “real” Tape Delay it is a digital delay that emulates vintage Tape delays. I know most of you will be rolling your eyes saying “Well duhhhhh!” but honestly some people might not realise this is a digital pedal. Having said that it does a really great job of sounding like a tape Delay so if you want a simplified version of this pedal then the Empress Tape Delay may be just the ticket.
I think both of the Buffer pedals look great, I like the simplicity of the standard Buffer, I’d like to see how it would affect the tone from my pedalboard so I may have to get one of those to review soon!
