Back in 2009 I reviewed an album by an outstanding Bass player called Jon Reshard, his solo album features Greg Howe on guitar and Dave Weckl on drums and it is a brilliant fusion style album. (Read my review here)
Well believe it or not Jon is a rocker at heart and he has put together a new band called Vigilant and the new single “Get It” is due for release on the 14th September and features some awesome riffing and fretless soloing. The band has an incredible singer, 25 year old Chloe Pappas who sang on the Michael Jackson ‘This Is It’ Tribute tour as well as backup for Cee Lo. Chloe really adds a great dynamic to the band, she has amazing range and power in her voice. Guitarist Jordan Ferreira was touring the world at age 13 and is not only an excellent shredder but lays down some great chunky rhythm parts in “Get It” using a clean style overdrive similar in tone to some of Tom Morello’s guitar parts. For the recording of the album drummer Thomas Pridgen was called upon as Vigilant was still without a sticksman but since then Padget Nanton has joined the band and boy can this guy play! (check out this drum solo).
So all of this talent come together to form Vigilant and from what I have heard of the new single “Get It” it is going to be a great album, they definitely have their own style so I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!
