The Planet Waves NS Mini Headstock Tuner is a very cool and useful tool for guitarists due to it’s size, bright and clear backlit LCD reversible screen which allows you to tune your guitar without being plugged in via a Piezo transducer. I found the tuning to be perfectly accurate and the response very quick so it would be ideal for either gigs or home use. The design of the clip allows you to fix the tuner to any guitar without causing any harm to the headstock, I used my Taylor SB2-S to illustrate how it can be used with a 3-a-side headstock. As with all Chromatic tuners it doesn’t matter whether you are in standard or drop tuning as it will just show the current pitch of the string and will show red if you are out of tune, amber as you get closer to pitch and green when you are perfectly in tune. There are also indicator bars either side of the note display to show how close you are to pitch.
