Charles Cilia is one of Australia’s finest luthiers who has been making amazing custom guitars for about 15 years. The CGA 7 and has been designed from the ground up as a 7 string rather than simply modifying one of his 6 string designs. This particular guitar has an Alder Body with a private stock quilt Maple top, a 5 piece Wenge/Walnut neck, Ebony fretboard with custom Maple wing inlays, 24 Stainless Steel frets, Dimarzio Tone Zone 7 and Air Norton 7 pickups in the bridge and neck respectively, a Hipshot bridge and Sperzel locking tuners. The volume pot is a Push/Pull control for splitting the coils and the tone control Push/Pull is a kill switch for the neck pickup so once engaged you can use the 3 way toggle switch for your Tom Morello impressions.
The workmanship is flawless on this guitar, it is very easy to play and quite light too. I have recorded the demonstration above to show how the pickups clean up as well as Metal settings to show the versatility, I had a TC Electronic Spark Booster (clean boost) before my Ceriatone Chupacabra which was set to 60′s mode.
I just want to point out this isn’t my Cilia CGA 7 which is currently being built but a guitar that was created for the Winter NAMM 2013 show.
