I recently found out about the talented transcriber Daniel Van der Merwe from my friend Michael Dolce who has used him to transcribe some of his recent guitar solos and lessons so I got chatting and we came up with an idea for Guitar Noize. Daniel has transcribed the Guthrie Govan solo from the video above where Guthrie is playing “Donna Lee” by Charlie Parker. Guthrie plays 32 bars of walking bassline rhythm guitar, then 32 bars of melody (which sounds a lot like a solo) and then 2 chorus’s (64 bars) of solo which is the part that Daniel has transcribed.
