My favourite Aussie Prog Metallers Circles have been busy recording their as yet unnamed debut album, I reviewed their excellent EP, The Compass, back in April 2011 so I’ve been looking forward to a full length release for some time. Their EP and single reached No.1 and No.5 on the Australian Metal iTunes chart simultaneously by the way, an impressive statistic!
The new track, Another Me received its debut airplay on BBC Radio 1′s Rockshow last week, the album is slated for release via Basick Records in Spring 2013. Check out the new single below:
Vocalist PERRY KAKRIDAS comments on the new track: “This song marks a new, yet familiar direction for Circles. Another Me, may be one of the heaviest songs that we’ve written to date. However, as always we’ve managed to produce a stark contrast to this, with our melodies. I’m proud of this song and the story that goes with it. To me, it signifies a rebirth for me as a member of Circles, as a musician and as a person. Simply put, there is another me.”
The video for “Another Me” was filmed by director DAVE HUNTER, who is also the bands drummer. DAVE explains about the video concept:
“This video was a different experience for us, because we hadn’t tackled a storyline element before. The story came from an idea for a short film I was working on a few years back. After some tweaking with the guys, it all fell into place quite nicely. Especially with the lyrical content of the song.
In true Circles form everything was produced in house. I filmed and edited the video (except for the shots of me actually playing) and Ted Furuhashi, Circles guitarist, recorded/mixed and mastered the track, as he will be doing for the album. We even got a good friend of ours to make the masks from scratch.”
