UK based Bare Knuckle Pickups have just announced a collaboration with Periphery’s Misha Mansoor on a new signature humbucker called the Juggernaut available as both a 6 or 7 string version either covered with etched Bare Knuckle or Misha’s Bulb logo designed by Daemoness Guitars‘ Dylan Humphries (as above) or uncovered in a number of colour combinations.
Tim [Mills, founder of BKP] and I set on making something that would surpass them [Aftermath & Black Hawk Humbuckers] in that they would take the best qualities of both pickups but also improve on the qualms I personally have with the AM and BH. In the end we created something brand new, to call it a mix of the AM/BH would be selling it short.
The Juggernauts were specifically designed to not be as harsh in the top end as your traditional ceramic fare by focusing more on the high mid frequencies instead of highs because high-mids are more relevant frequencies to the guitar, so you still get the clarity but none of the shrill qualities.
You can hear the Juggernaut in action over at the Bare Knuckle Pickups website with demonstrations recorded by both Misha and Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood I believe.
Misha Mansoor has just posted a brilliant demo of the Bare Knuckle Juggernaut in action combining many different styles in an epic composition which you can see above, he has also posted a 2nd video showing the raw tones and explaining the pickup’s features which you can also see above.
