Jackson Guitars have released a new addition to their signature guitar lineup, the Jackson Adrian Smith Signature SDX. Now you might be wondering what the difference between this guitar and the Jackson Adrian Smith Signature San Dimas guitar is that looks, well, the same. The difference is that this guitar costs a quarter of what the San Dimas costs. Presumably this affordable version is being manufactured somewhere in Asia rather than being built in the US. The other cost saving differences are that the pickups are Jackson’s own rather than DiMarzio and the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless single coils on the San Dimas, the tuners are also Jackson’s own rather than Gotoh. The Body is made from Basswood instead of Alder which technically probably doesn’t make a lot of difference in cost and it has a Floyd Rose Special rather than Original. There are probably a few other differences such as the paint used etc. but for all intents and purposes it certainly looks like the San Dimas so if you are a fan of Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith and his famous Jackson but don’t want to shell out $2k this might be just the ticket!
